Licensed Psychologist - Minnesota
For most people, divorce is a major life transition in which the old way of life is over and a new life has not yet begun. It can be a highly-charged time emotionally as both members of a couple cope with the many losses involved. My job, as a neutral facilitator/coach, is to help couples deal with their strong feelings while making decisions about how to legally dissolve their marriage and move forward. If a couple has children, they will have a continuing relationship with one another after the marriage is over. During the divorce, I help them set a foundation for how they will communicate and cooperate in their new relationship as co-parents.I offer a 30-minute free consultation to couples interested in learning more about their options for divorce and/or whether a collaborative divorce is a good fit for their family's situation.I bring to my work a commitment to win-win solutions. I have training in family systems, communication, collaborative law and interest-based negotiation. While I am a licensed psychologist, I do not function as a therapist in this role. For couples who are considering a divorce and are ambivalent about whether or not to stay married, I offer a short-term Guided Relationship Assessment to help them clarify for themselves the best way forward for their relationship. I have been in Collaborative Practice since 2006. Becoming a neutral/facilitator coach was a natural evolution for me. As a therapist, I have spent more than a decade counseling couples before, during and after marriage. I have led support groups for those who are separated or divorced and those who are rebuilding after divorce. I have taught numerous workshops on healthy emotional boundaries. Over the years, I have seen firsthand how emotionally damaging to family members (especially children) adversarial divorce can be. As a neutral collaborative coach, I am passionate about helping families through this difficult life transition i
