Collaborate for Your Children's Sakes. By using a collaborative process (Collaborative Law) in their divorce, clients make sensible settlements that benefit every member of the family without going to court. I have pursued an active collaborative law practice since I became aware of the concept in 1992. By actively listening to identify my clients' needs and interests, I guide my clients to make settlements that are beneficial and enduring for all members of the family. The collaborative skills I model for my clients help them communicate better during and after the divorce and promote coparenting. Collaborative law avoids wasteful expense and promotes an equitable allocation of resources where they are most needed. Practicing collaborative law is consistent with my values of preserving working relationships that benefit children when families transition from one to two households.
