Licensed Attorney State of Minnesota
I attended the Collaborative Law Institute of Minnesota 2023. I regularly attend the MN Family Law Institute as well as the Alternative Dispute Resolution annual Institute.
My sole focus of practice is family law. I believe that amicable resolution of issues is possible, with the client being empowered to make decisions. The collaborative practice of law allows parents to make decisions about their children and reach a self determined result versus one imposed upon them by a Judge. The collaborative process also allow separating spouses to decide their financial future and to go forward on the best financial footing possible.
I provide an initial 30 minute consultation free of charge, either via Zoom technology or in person at my office in Edina. I want my clients to fully understand his or her options for proceeding with the Collaborative process, and how it compares and differs from a court driven one.
I was admitted to the practice law in the State of Minnesota in 2006. I graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2006, after receiving a bachelor’s degree in psychology and criminal justice from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2003.
After clerking for a Judge in the Hennepin County District Court for three years, I joined the firm of Tuttle Bergeson, P.A. in 2009 as an associate attorney practicing in the areas of family law and estate planning. After working as an associate at a firm for five years, I went into solo practice in 2014, forming the Laura L. Schultz Law Office.
I am a Rule 114 Qualified Neutral, meaning that I am qualified to perform Mediation and Early Neutral Evaluation of family law matters. I am also a Parenting Consultant and Parenting Time Expeditor, helping families resolve their disputes after their divorce or separation as co-parents.
