Melissa’s legal practice focuses on estate planning, mediation, and collaborative family law.
Melissa understands most clients feel anxious when they are in conflict or under duress and emotions are high, especially when it involves the most important people in their lives. Answering “What happens next?” can feel overwhelming. Melissa believes the best way for clients to move forward is to be in control of their own destiny. She understands her clients are in the best position to understand the nuance and history of the concerns at hand and guides clients to find a path forward.
As a benefit to families contemplating divorce or in a divorce process, Melissa prefers helping clients resolve disputes utilizing the many forms of alternative dispute resolution available, including the collaborative law process. She is a Collaborative Law Institute board member. Alternative dispute resolution involves out-of-court solutions for resolving conflict. In her initial consultation, Melissa reviews the potential processes available to clients to resolve family disputes because she believes how you choose to proceed can be as important as the final resolution. The decision regarding process choice depends on the unique circumstances surrounding a client’s particular situation. Melissa is a strong advocate for her clients, navigating family conflicts with sincerity and calm.
